A Dental Hygienist is a licensed dental professional who specialises in promoting oral health, typically focusing on techniques in oral hygiene. Our hygienists work under instructions from a dentist, and are licensed to administer local anaesthesia. Common procedures performed by hygienists include cleaning known as prophylaxis, scaling and polishing, comprehensive root surface cleaning for patients with gum disease (periodontal disease), taking of prescribed radiographs, administration of fluoride, dietary advice and providing instructions for proper oral hygiene and care.
Our Hygienists are a central part of our team, allowing East End Lodge Dental Care to achieve our primary focus of enabling our patients to protect themselves against dental diseases, and therefore reduce the need for repair and restoration of damaged teeth and gums - 'prevention is better than cure'!
